Size and strength are two important factors in jiu-jitsu, and one grappler who is learning to use these to his advantage is Abraham Marte.

The only black belt competitor from the Caribbean island nation of the Dominican Republic, Marte began jiu-jitsu late in life – but that hasn’t stopped him becoming a world-class competitor in the ultra heavyweight division.

And can you believe that Marte’s favourite sparring partner is Leandro Lo, who weighs 30 kilos (66lb) less than him?
