The only black belt competitor from the Caribbean island nation of the Dominican Republic, Marte began jiu-jitsu late in life – but that hasn’t stopped him becoming a world-class competitor in the ultra heavyweight division.
And can you believe that Marte’s favourite sparring partner is Leandro Lo, who weighs 30 kilos (66lb) less than him?
